Facebook to Introduce AI-Powered Matchmaking Feature

Meta has introduced an AI assistant for Facebook Dating, the company announced on Monday.
This chatbot is designed to help users discover better-matched partners. For instance, it can find "a Brooklyn girl in tech" or offer suggestions to optimize a user's dating profile.
To combat "swipe fatigue," Meta is also launching Meet Cute, a feature that delivers a weekly algorithm-selected "surprise match" to each user.
According to the company, Facebook Dating has seen a 10% year-over-year increase in matches among adults aged 18 to 29, with hundreds of thousands in this age group creating profiles monthly. Still, this audience remains smaller than competitors like Tinder, which reports about 50 million daily active users, or Hinge’s 10 million.
AI tools are becoming standard across major dating platforms. Even newer entrants like Sitch are using AI capabilities to stand out.
Match Group — which owns Tinder, Hinge, and OKCupid — recently formed a partnership with OpenAI. This move is part of the dating conglomerate’s $20 million-plus investment in AI, a significant commitment given its stock has fallen roughly 68% over the past five years.
So far, this investment has led to features like Tinder’s AI photo selector, which scans your camera roll to recommend the best profile images, and AI-powered matchmaking. Hinge offers an AI tool that helps users improve their responses to profile prompts.
