What is Advanced Voice Mode?
Advanced Voice Mode is OpenAI's AI-powered voice assistant that sets itself apart by allowing interruptions, engaging in multi-turn conversations, and even responding to user emotions. This creates a conversational experience that feels more intuitive and genuinely helpful. It tackles a common issue with other voice assistants that often struggle to keep up with what's being said.
Although it might sound like something out of a sci-fi movie, my personal experience with Advanced Voice Mode has shown it's adept at handling long conversations and understanding my train of thought, even when it's a bit all over the place. You can use it for fun stuff like chatting about your day, playing trivia, or simply talking about yourself. But don't forget, it's just as handy for practical tasks as any regular voice assistant.

Subscription Requirements
There's a catch, though. Even with the expanded availability, you'll need a ChatGPT Plus subscription to use Advanced Voice Mode, which will set you back $20 a month. If you're a die-hard ChatGPT user, the upgrade might be worth it. It comes with a bunch of other perks, like access to all the latest OpenAI models, including o1-preview, five times more messages for GPT-4o, image generation, and more.
Limitations
One thing to note is that you still won't be able to use Voice Mode's multimodal features, such as helping with content on your screen or using your phone's camera as context for responses. OpenAI hasn't given us a release date for these capabilities yet, so we'll have to wait and see.

This voice mode is a game-changer! I tried it on my desktop, and it feels like chatting with a super smart friend. Can't wait to use it for brainstorming sessions! 😎
Wow, voice mode on web sounds cool! I’m curious if it’s as smooth as they claim or just another overhyped feature. Gotta try it out! 😎
