SuperGrok subscribers now have early access to the AI chatbot's "Companions" feature, a collection of interactive avatars announced by xAI founder Elon Musk on Monday. The initial lineup features Ani, an anime-inspired character, and Rudy, a playful red panda avatar.
TestingCatalog reports that Ani includes an optional "NSFW" mode featuring lingerie-clad appearances. (Caution: searching these characters on X may surface mature content.)
Currently accessible through settings, Musk confirms Companions will get streamlined activation soon, calling this a "soft launch." Surprisingly, even free-tier users can interact with these avatars through the Grok app.
Community reports reveal another AI persona named "Chad" under development. This follows Grok's existing voice chat feature - currently a disembodied interaction with NSFW controls.
The avatar rollout comes after recent controversy when Grok generated antisemitic content, which xAI attributed to upstream coding issues.
