HomeDJI Mic 3 Packs More Features Into Compact Design
DJI Unveils Mic 3: A Compact Powerhouse for Wireless Audio
The tech giant continues to refine its wireless microphone lineup with the DJI Mic 3, delivering professional-grade features in a remarkably smaller form factor. This latest iteration improves upon its predecessors while maintaining excellent battery performance, packing dual adaptive gain control modes, three vocal presets, and expanded storage capabilities into a device half the size of the Mic 2.
Priced at $219 for the single transmitter/receiver package or $329 for the dual-transmitter kit with charging case, the Mic 3 represents a notable price increase over previous models. Currently unavailable in the US market, this release follows the Mic Mini ($169) and Mic 2 ($219 dual-transmitter kit), positioning itself as a premium offering.
Engineered for versatility, the wireless system supports simultaneous connections with up to four transmitters and eight receivers - perfect for capturing multiple speakers across distances up to 400 meters (1,312 feet). Intelligent frequency hopping between 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands ensures stable transmission, while two-stage active noise cancellation provides pristine audio capture.
The Mic 3 offers a compact alternative to DJI's screenless Mic Mini while retaining professional features. Image credit: DJIAudio engineers will appreciate the intelligent adaptive gain control featuring:
- Automatic mode for dynamic environments prone to sudden volume spikes
- Dynamic mode optimized for controlled indoor settings
Three voice tone profiles (Regular/Rich/Bright) allow for vocal customization, ensuring optimal clarity whether recording podcasts, interviews, or cinematic dialog.
Weighing just 16 grams, the Mic 3 maintains critical professional features absent from the ultra-light Mic Mini:
- Built-in backup recording capabilities
- Touchscreen receiver interface
- Generous 32GB internal storage (up from Mic 2's 8GB)
- Support for high-resolution 24-bit/32-bit float recording
Battery performance strikes a balance between previous models:
- Receiver: 8 hours (vs Mic 2's 6 hrs)
- Transmitter: 10 hours (vs Mic 2's 6 hrs)
- Charging case provides 2.4 full charges (~28 hours additional)
This release demonstrates DJI's commitment to evolving its audio ecosystem, though regional availability may initially limit adoption.

Finally, DJI made the Mic 3 actually pocketable! The previous ones were bulky. Wonder if the battery life is still decent though. 🤔
