Anthropic's command-line programming tool, Claude Code, has officially launched its "Agent View" feature today. This new capability is designed to tackle the common developer challenges of window management and context switching when juggling multiple parallel AI programming tasks. As a new interactive interface currently in "research preview," Agent View enables developers to centrally oversee and manage all active AI programming sessions from a single dashboard, dramatically boosting the scheduling efficiency of large-scale, concurrent work.
Prior to this update, developers often resorted to terminal tabs or tmux split screens to physically separate multiple concurrent tasks. This approach frequently led to high cognitive load and made it difficult to track real-time task progress. Now, by pressing the left arrow key within a session or executing the claude agents command, developers can access the Agent View overview. This interface displays the status of every session at a line-item level—such as "waiting for response," "running," or "completed"—enabling transparent and efficient progress management.
Technically, the core breakthrough of Agent View is its "seamless interaction" model. After selecting a specific session, developers can preview its latest progress without switching to a full window. For tasks requiring a decision, they can input commands directly from the overview interface, ensuring workflow continuity. Furthermore, newly added background processing capabilities enhance automation: users can employ the /bg command to move the current task to the background or use claude --bg to initiate a session directly in the background.
