China Mobile Launches AI-eSIM, Ending Phone Number Era as Everything Becomes a Large Model
The 2026 Mobile Cloud Conference recently unveiled a technological breakthrough poised to reshape smart connectivity. With the innovative AI-eSIM Multi-ecosystem Intelligent Service System, the mobile communication industry achieved a milestone: using carrier numbers as large model accounts. This system repositions AI-eSIM as a gateway to the Token economy, blending traffic, tokens, and intelligent agents to create a new AI paradigm.
Core Hardware: Full-Stack Domestic Chips Deliver Breakthroughs Across Four Dimensions
The newly launched AI-eSIM chip entry achieves multiple industry-leading technical optimizations. On the security front, the chip is fully domestic and self-controlled, meeting financial-grade hardware security standards while providing each connected device with a trusted digital identity.
When it comes to power consumption and size, the CAT.1 communication chip designed for wearables sets a new industry record by reducing weight by 82% while adapting to extreme wearing conditions. The technology also supports remote delivery of number codes and identity keys, enabling intelligent model scheduling and plug-and-play use. Most disruptively, it allows traditional eSIM to be upgraded to an AI entry point with a single click, giving terminal devices independent thinking and response capabilities.
Engine Support: Bridging the "Last Mile" of AI Deployment
To integrate large models into everyday life, the system relies on three core engines:
Unified Management: Directly connecting to large models through the AIoT platform, it ensures highly consistent identity security and management.
Low-Barrier Development: Leveraging intelligent agent services and low-code deployment, it dramatically lowers the barrier for enterprises and individuals to build their own AI tools.
Cost Optimization: With a traffic and token (Byte+Token) integrated operational model, users can purchase services in a single step, greatly reducing usage and maintenance hurdles.
Scenario Empowerment: Nine Fields Achieve "Instant Intelligence" Upon Startup
AI-eSIM is now deeply embedded in nine core scenarios, including toys, home appliances, wearables, office, finance, and robotics. Through joint laboratories with partners like JD.com, Tencent, and Volcano Engine, multiple innovations have been realized. For instance, products such as smart air conditioners, smart glasses, and AI toys that incorporate this technology deliver a seamless experience: "power on, connect, and become intelligent."
This system launch signals a shift in mobile communications from basic "connection services" to comprehensive "AI full-stack services," setting the stage for explosive growth in smart terminals.
