ChatGPT Voice Mode Upgrade: Pro Users Can Now Call GPT-6 Astra with Daily Quota Rules Changed
On September 10, Eleti, head of OpenAI’s voice products, revealed that ChatGPT Voice now lets users select their preferred model and reasoning depth. Pro subscribers gain access to GPT-5.6 Sol or GPT-6 Astra, with the system automatically deploying the chosen model for tasks requiring network search or complex reasoning.
He explained that each time voice mode passes a query to the underlying text model, it counts as a single message sent to that model.
Four-Tier Plan Limits Introduced, Three-Tier Voice Intelligence Levels Retired
OpenAI has also streamlined daily usage caps for GPT-Live:
Go: Offers up to 3 hours of GPT-Live-1 mini usage, with GPT-Live-1 access removed;Plus: Grants up to 3 hours of GPT-Live-1 usage;Pro ($100/month): Allows up to 15 hours of GPT-Live-1 usage;Pro ($200/month): Provides unlimited GPT-Live-1 access.Once Plus and Pro users exhaust their voice quotas, they will no longer be downgraded to GPT-Live mini. This update officially retires the previous three-tier voice intelligence system (Instant / Medium / High).
