Atlassian, the enterprise productivity software leader, has announced plans to acquire innovative browser developer The Browser Company in a $610 million all-cash transaction. The strategic move aims to revolutionize workplace browsing by integrating AI-powered capabilities tailored for modern knowledge workers.
"Traditional browsers were designed for casual web surfing, not the demanding workflows of today's professionals," stated Mike Cannon-Brookes, Atlassian's CEO and co-founder. "This acquisition marks our commitment to reinvent the browser experience for the era of cloud-based work and artificial intelligence."
The Browser Company, known for its Arc and Dia browsers, will maintain operational independence within Atlassian while accelerating development of its next-generation Dia browser. CEO Josh Miller confirmed the team will expand development capacity and extend platform support following the acquisition.
This strategic investment follows The Browser Company's $50 million funding round last year that valued the startup at $550 million. Since its founding, the company has attracted $128 million from prominent investors including Pace Capital and tech executives from LinkedIn, Medium, Figma, Notion, and GitHub.
The transaction is anticipated to finalize in Q2 of Atlassian's 2026 fiscal year, coinciding with growing industry focus on specialized workplace browsers. This development follows closely after a U.S. District Court decision preserving Google's Chrome browser operations.
