Anthropic Unveils App Integrations and Advanced Research Features for Claude AI

Anthropic introduced on Thursday a fresh approach for linking applications and tools to its AI assistant Claude, along with an upgraded deep research function that lets Claude explore the web, corporate accounts, and additional sources.
This new integration capability, named Integrations, and the enhanced deep research option, called Advanced Research, are rolling out in beta to subscribers of Anthropic's Claude Max, Team, and Enterprise tiers, with Pro access arriving shortly. Separately, Anthropic has boosted the usage caps for its AI-driven coding assistant, Claude Code, aimed at Max users.
These updates reflect Anthropic's push to match rivals like Google's Gemini and OpenAI's ChatGPT. Reports suggest Anthropic aims for $34.5 billion in revenue by 2027, and while progress is evident, much ground remains to cover. Its annualized revenue stood at roughly $1.4 billion in early March, per one analysis.
Integrations expands on the firm's MCP protocol, enabling models to pull data from business platforms and software for task completion, as well as from content libraries and development setups. Through MCP, Integrations empowers developers to create and manage app servers that boost Claude's functions, allowing users to find and link these servers seamlessly.
"By linking tools to Claude, it builds rich insight into your operations—grasping project timelines, task updates, and team expertise—and performs actions across all interfaces," Anthropic noted in a blog entry.
Launching with options from partners like Atlassian, Zapier, Cloudflare, Intercom, Square, and PayPal, each addition broadens Claude's scope. For instance, the Atlassian link enables Claude to condense and generate pages in Confluence collaboration software, while Zapier connects to automated app workflows.
On the other front, Anthropic's Advanced Research lets Claude scan hundreds of internal and external resources to produce thorough reports on topics, taking five to 45 minutes. It leverages Claude's fresh connectors, the company explains, delving into Integrations and—via the Claude Desktop app on macOS or Windows—MCP-linked local setups.

Recent waves of advanced research tools have emerged in assistants like Gemini, Microsoft's Copilot, and xAI's Grok. Powering them are reasoning models that tackle issues methodically and verify facts—essential for thorough topic exploration.
Anthropic's prior Research tool ranked among the quicker options, generating reports in about a minute. Yet outcomes often lacked depth, partly due to missing a reasoning model that methodically processes challenges over time.
