Ant Group secretly tests AI-powered Alipay, Intelligent Assistant to become core component

Alipay's interface is reportedly on the verge of a major "intelligent overhaul." Recent reports indicate that Ant Group is conducting internal tests on a new AI-powered version of Alipay, aiming to thoroughly redesign the app and embed artificial intelligence more deeply into its payment and lifestyle service ecosystem.
Sources say the most noticeable change in this new version is the upgraded interaction logic. Users can access the native AI interface with a single click, then communicate with the AI assistant named "Abao" via text or voice. Whether handling complex financial tasks or everyday lifestyle needs, actions that once required navigating multiple menus can now be completed automatically with one simple command.
According to a source familiar with Ant Group's plans, the company has elevated the AI Agent initiative to a strategic project. Under this strategy, Alipay intends to evolve from a simple payment tool into a more intuitive "super assistant."
This direction was already hinted at during the recent AI Payment Ecosystem Conference, where Alipay launched several related products and built a new service framework tailored to the intelligent agent business model. The platform now supports approximately 95% of mainstream intelligent agent frameworks, creating a solid technical base for the full deployment of an AI assistant.
However, Ant Group has not disclosed the testing progress or a specific release timeline, opting not to comment for now. While the exact launch date is still unknown, it is clear that as large model technology continues to advance, AI assistants are poised to transform the interaction model of mobile payments, making even complex financial services more accessible.
