By adopting token-based billing—where tokens represent units of text processed—Amazon seeks to create a pricing model that better reflects large language model operations. Analysts note that this change could raise costs for businesses that frequently invoke models or work with lengthy texts.
The new pricing policy is scheduled to take effect next year.
