Amazon Launches AI Medical Assistant, Integrates EHR for Smart Healthcare
According to AIbase, Amazon Web Services (AWS) officially introduced Amazon Connect Health on Thursday. This new AI agent-driven platform aims to reduce administrative burdens for healthcare providers by automating repetitive tasks like appointment scheduling, medical history reviews, coding, and documentation.

The platform is fully HIPAA-compliant and integrates smoothly with leading electronic health record (EHR) systems. Initially, Amazon Connect Health offers patient identity verification and environmental documentation, with appointment scheduling and patient analytics features currently in preview. AWS has adopted a competitive per-user pricing model at $99 per month, capped at 600 visits, significantly undercutting costs associated with traditional consulting firms or early-stage startups.
This launch represents AWS's first "AI agent" product designed to handle complex, human-like tasks within a heavily regulated platform, building on its earlier offerings like Amazon HealthLake and HealthOmics. As OpenAI and Anthropic roll out their ChatGPT Health and Claude for Healthcare solutions, Amazon is leveraging its robust cloud infrastructure and the integration of One Medical to position itself as a core player in the vast US healthcare market, valued at $5 trillion.
