At Amazon's yearly Devices & Services shindig on Wednesday, they rolled out Alexa+, a souped-up version of their voice assistant, now juiced up with generative AI.
They showed off how you can toss documents at Alexa+ and it'll remember the nitty-gritty details, ready to answer your questions about them.
Mara Segal, the bigwig in charge of Alexa, gave us a few cool examples. Like, she asked Alexa+, "Hey, how much oil does grandma's zucchini bread recipe call for?" And bam, Alexa+ pulled the answer right out of the recipe that had been shared earlier.
Then there was this trickier setup where you could upload your Homeowners Association (HOA) rules and quiz Alexa+ on them. You know, those rules everyone kinda skims over.
Plus, you can send a bunch of emails from your kid's school to Alexa+, and it'll sift through and sum up the key points. It can even keep your calendar in check so you don't miss any school shindigs.
Amazon didn't stop there; they flaunted more Alexa+ tricks at the event. Like, you can skip to different parts of movies on Prime Video and boss around your smart home gadgets, moving tunes from one speaker to another in different rooms.
