Aliyun QoderWork Unveils Consciousness Function, Enabling AI Self-Memory and Skill Evolution
Alibaba Cloud has unveiled the new "Consciousness" feature for its desktop AI assistant, QoderWork, on June 16th, integrating three core modules: memory, reflection, and skill evolution. This upgrade marks a shift of desktop-level AI assistants from simple conversational tools to intelligent agents with autonomous growth capabilities. At its core, the feature enables the AI to not only actively organize and eliminate redundant information while preserving conversations, but also automatically convert users' frequently performed tasks into reusable skills, significantly boosting the efficiency of ongoing collaborative work.

In terms of technical architecture, QoderWork's memory system uses a hierarchical structure: daily conversations are first stored in short-term memory, and valuable content across sessions is promoted to long-term memory. To safeguard information security, its reflection mechanism mimics the human brain's selective forgetting by taking a snapshot backup before each reflection and performing post-validation through strict rules. If any deviation occurs, the system automatically reverts to prevent accidental deletion of critical data. All memories are stored locally in an open Markdown text format, giving users full access and editing permissions.
Additionally, the system employs a multi-factor weighted scoring model to evaluate conversation value in real time, triggering the evolution process via the Fork Session mechanism only when the threshold is met. This approach achieves a cache hit rate of over 99%, while keeping additional costs within 5% of the main conversation's total cost.
For frequent tasks, the generated skill suggestions are presented to users, who can select, ignore, or reject them. Rejected suggestions automatically cool down. Today, QoderWork boasts a diverse product lineup that includes Chat mode, multiple workstation types, and industry expert packages. The introduction of the "Consciousness" feature not only showcases the feasibility of lightweight AI performing autonomous incremental learning at the edge, but also offers a technical reference for the industry to explore more cost-effective and privacy-focused personal AI workflow evolution.
