HomeAlibaba Cloud's Bailian Platform Announces Major API Rate Limit Changes
To enhance platform resource scheduling and maintain overall service stability, Alibaba Cloud announced on April 20 that it will introduce new rate-limiting measures for the multimodal interaction development kit within its "Bailian" large model service platform.
According to the announcement, these adjustments will become effective on April 28, 2026. At that time, the number of new connections (i.e., the default API call volume) for the platform's multimodal interaction gateway will be uniformly set to 10 QPS (queries per second).
Alibaba Cloud clarified that the revised quota is based on scientific calculations and can support up to 600 sessions per minute or 36,000 sessions per hour. This specification is designed to meet the daily debugging requirements of most developers and ensure the stable operation of routine business scenarios.
Notably, this policy adjustment is targeted. Customers who have previously applied through official channels and upgraded their rate-limiting quota will retain their existing permissions and will not be affected by this change to the default value.
This move reflects cloud service providers' strategy to balance resource allocation between individual developers and enterprise users by implementing more granular traffic management, in response to the growing demand for large model calls. Relevant developers should evaluate their business call frequency before April 28 to ensure a seamless transition.
