AI for Energy: Google Accelerator Applications Now Open
These days, a bunch of startups are diving into AI to revolutionize the energy sector. They're crafting products that boost grid resilience, squeeze more value out of existing assets, and speed up the tools we use for analysis and planning to keep our energy systems humming along. To help these AI-driven startups grow quickly and responsibly, we're rolling out the Google for Startups Accelerator: AI for Energy. You can apply starting today, and we'll be running cohorts in North America and Europe this year.
This no-equity program packs a punch with 10 weeks of intense mentorship and technical project support for startups weaving AI into their core energy services or products. If you're selected, you'll team up with a stellar group of fellow founders and connect with big shots from Google and the energy world. The curriculum's gonna hook you up with the latest AI tools and throw in workshops on tech and infrastructure, UX and product, growth, sales, leadership, and a whole lot more. We're zeroing in on the big themes shaking up the energy scene:
- Solutions for utilities, grid operators, and energy developers: We're talking about tech that helps with integrating and optimizing Grid Enhancing Technologies (GETs), smoothing out interconnection queues, managing demand-side loads, digitizing the grid, accessing data, and analyzing energy project sites.
- Solutions for residential and commercial end-use customers focused on demand flexibility: This includes tech that pushes forward demand response, Virtual Power Plants (VPPs), load aggregation, and emergency grid alerts.
- Solutions for industrial customers: Think tech that boosts industrial energy efficiency, optimizes batteries, builds carbon-aware infrastructure, and helps with summarizing and analyzing utility tariffs, plus modeling and forecasting electricity rates.
You can throw your hat in the ring for the North America cohort right now, and keep an eye out for when the Europe cohort application window opens up around summer 2025. Both cohorts will kick off their hybrid programming in September and wrap up by November.
