AI Boosts Learning: 5 New Methods for Students and Youth

Today, on National AI Literacy Day, we're excited to share the latest ways we're helping parents, educators, and students harness AI safely and effectively.
- **AI Training for Educators and Guardians:** We've rolled out two fresh courses for K12 and higher education teachers, showing them how to use Google AI to save time, create engaging lessons, and spark new ideas. These courses add to our existing resources like the Grow with Google Generative AI for Educators course, developed with MIT RAISE, the updated Guardian’s Guide to AI, and the Experience AI program for educators and students.
- **Resources for Students and Families:** We've got a new lesson plan that helps teachers guide their students in using Gemini responsibly. It's based on our five essentials for starting with AI and includes real-life scenarios and practical tips. For families, we've put together a conversation guide to help them explore AI together. These resources complement programs like Be Internet Awesome and the Online Safety Roadshow, which have already helped millions of kids navigate the online world safely.
- **Introducing Gemini to Younger Users:** We've been talking to parents, teachers, and child development experts, and they agree that with the right safeguards, AI can boost learning and creativity at school and home. Soon, we'll be rolling out Gemini to younger users. Parents can manage their child's access to Gemini through the Family Link app on supervised accounts. For school accounts, administrators can control access via the Google Admin console, which will soon include accounts for younger students.
- **Spotting AI-Generated Content:** We've created a video to help folks spot and understand the labels YouTube requires for content that's been significantly altered or created using generative AI.
- **Funding to Boost AI Skills Access:** Google.org has given $1 million to the MIT RAISE Initiative to push forward AI education and action. This adds to our work with MIT RAISE on the Generative AI for Educators course and brings Google.org's total AI literacy funding to over $40 million, including the AI Opportunity Fund. Over the last two years, these grants have reached more than 13 million students, aiming to create a future where AI helps everyone learn, grow, and thrive.

This article's got me hyped about AI in education! Those new courses for teachers sound like a game-changer. Can't wait to see how students use these tools to level up their learning. 🚀
Super cool to see AI courses for teachers! I'm curious how these methods stack up against traditional learning—any studies comparing them yet? 🤔
