Adobe is shaking things up in the creative world by introducing AI agents designed to revolutionize how we use Photoshop and Premiere Pro. In a recent blog post, Ely Greenfield, Adobe’s CTO of digital media, spilled the beans on these new features that promise to make editing a breeze.
Photoshop’s new “creative agent” will appear in a handy floating Actions panel. This smart tool will analyze your photos and suggest context-aware edits. Imagine snapping a shot and the agent recommending to remove those pesky background people or to enhance the depth of field by blurring everything behind your main subject. All you have to do is click on the suggestion, and voilà, the agent does the work for you.
Traditional Photoshop users, who are accustomed to meticulously masking and layering to edit images, will find this a game-changer. Adobe has already introduced AI tools like Distraction Removal, which lets you easily delete unwanted objects or people from your photos. Now, with the creative agent, editing becomes even more intuitive.

What’s really exciting is that you can interact with these agents using everyday language. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, you can ask the agent to guide you through the steps of a task, or let it do the work for you. In a demo video, a user prompted the agent to clean up an image and add a text box behind a person. The agent then detailed the steps, which included removing background people, auto-brightening, eliminating distracting objects, creating a “subject” layer, adding a text layer, and organizing everything neatly.

On the Premiere Pro front, Adobe is expanding on the recently introduced Media Intelligence feature. This tool helps you sift through your footage by recognizing objects and composition. The upcoming agent will take this a step further, allowing you to direct it to create a rough cut of your video.
As Greenfield pointed out in his blog, while AI can’t replace the creative spark that humans bring to the table, it can certainly help kickstart your projects with some intelligent suggestions. Plus, it can guide you through complex tasks, helping you grow as an editor. Premiere Pro’s creative agent will eventually assist with refining shot choices, adjusting colors, mixing audio, and more. And let’s not forget the newly launched Generative Extend, which uses AI to add extra seconds to your clips, making transitions smoother.
Adobe is set to unveil the technology behind Photoshop’s first AI agent at its Max event in London on April 24th. It’s clear that Adobe is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with AI, making creative work more accessible and efficient for everyone.
