Alibaba DAMO Academy launches DAMO EAGLE, a fourth AI model for esophageal cancer screening. Validated on 80,000 cases across three countries and published in Nature Medicine, it detects early-stage cancer from plain CT scans without endoscopy or contrast agents. Achieving 90% sensitivity and 99.2% specificity, the AI integrates seamlessly with existing lung cancer screening. This advances DAMO's plain CT plus AI multi-check strategy, aiming to detect China's top seven deadly cancers through single scans, improving early detection rates and reducing medical resource gaps.
