Sony Music Publishing and 34 other publishers sued Anthropic and its founders in California federal court for allegedly stealing thousands of copyrighted songs to train Claude. Plaintiffs call it historic IP theft and seek injunctions and billions in damages. Anthropic denies the claims and vows to defend itself. The lawsuit adds uncertainty to Anthropic's upcoming IPO following prior settlements with creative industry groups.
