Apple will make it mandatory for Apple Music content providers to add AI transparency labels to AI-generated music used extensively by late 2026, replacing the previous voluntary system. The company has developed internal tools to monitor streaming, identify AI songs and fraudulent content, and remove those manipulating play counts. Over a third of songs on the platform are fully AI generated but receive less than 0.5% of total listens. Competitors such as Deezer use AI detection systems to block around 60,000 AI songs daily, while Spotify plans to launch an AI Persona badge in mid-2026 allowing artists to disclose AI usage proactively. Platforms are strengthening transparency measures across content identification, verification and traffic management as AI music grows in scale.
