Google has added a range of new AI tools to Search and Gemini for learning use cases, aiming to strengthen Gemini’s role as a learning assistant and deepen its rivalry with OpenAI and other educational AI startups. Users can now generate interactive visualizations and 3D simulations via Google Search for complex topics (e.g., pH value charts), create customized practice quizzes across subjects like science and math, and get personalized learning experiences through specific queries. Google Lens will soon support uploading study material photos for concept explanations and error correction, while Search can also extract key content from PDFs, documents, and slides. Gemini has been upgraded with a multi-step research report feature that conducts background research upon request, supports voice discussions via Gemini Live, and can now generate functional 3D models based on prompts. A dedicated learning center within the Gemini app will offer tools such as study notes and memory cards. These updates reflect Google’s strategy to expand AI applications into education, intensifying competition among AI assistants in personalized learning, knowledge understanding, and efficiency improvement.
