OpenAI’s CFO Sara Ferial announced during a company meeting that the firm plans to go public in 2027, with a possible earlier listing if business conditions remain strong. She said the IPO is just one milestone in its ongoing financing and growth process, adding that OpenAI has already raised $12.2 billion this year, providing funding for expansion. The company filed confidential IPO prospectus documents with the SEC in June, while rival Anthropic also submitted similar files and began talks with potential investors. Ferial stated OpenAI will follow its own timeline for listing unaffected by Anthropic’s progress, and Anthropic may lift confidentiality soon with a possible September market debut. As the generative AI industry accelerates commercialization, competition between the two firms over model capabilities, enterprise services, and capital performance will be key to future industry development.
