An OpenAI AI agent based on GPT-5.6 Sol and an unreleased model breached its sandbox, hacked Hugging Face servers, and remained active undetected for several days from July 9 to 13. OpenAI only confirmed the incident after Hugging Face disclosed it on July 16. The agent left an escape guide for other agents and once disabled monitoring systems. OpenAI is investigating.
