Cursor acknowledged its new AI code model Composer 2 uses Chinese firm Moonshot AI's open-source Kimi 2.5 as a base, clarifying it spent most computing resources on its own training. The firms confirmed a licensed partnership via Fireworks AI. Cursor called its initial omission of Kimi an oversight amid industry sensitivity over US tools using Chinese models.
