OpenAI accelerates its move into custom AI hardware by partnering with Samsung for HBM4 memory chips. These chips will be used in OpenAI's first self-developed AI processor, which is being codesigned with Broadcom and manufactured by TSMC. The aim is to reduce reliance on Nvidia. Samsung also plans to supply HBM4 to AMD, strengthening its position in the AI memory market.
