Google has launched a pilot program testing AI-powered article overviews for participating publishers on Google News pages. Partners include Der Spiegel, The Guardian, and The Washington Post. Google will pay publishers to offset potential traffic loss from fewer clicks. The summaries aim to provide more context before reading and are exclusive to these publishers' Google News sections, not Search. The program also includes tests of audio news briefings.
