Google is preparing to launch its next-generation Gemini4 Argon model while internally testing a more powerful iteration codenamed Carbon. Recent internal evaluations suggest Carbon shows strong code writing and processing capabilities, potentially rivaling Anthropic's top-tier Opus5.5, though further verification is needed. Google has tested multiple Gemini4 derivatives including Argon, Barium, and Carbon, with early Argon versions showing performance comparable to Claude Opus5. Despite positive internal feedback, Google remains silent on whether Carbon will be a fine-tuned version of Argon or an independent model in the Gemini4 family.
