Anthropic launched the Anthropic Economic Index Connector, allowing Claude users to query real-world AI usage data via the chat interface. The index records how people use AI across professions and tasks. Users can ask questions like which professions use AI most, and Claude answers from the database, not generated text. The feature works with any Claude model without plugins. It aims to make AI economic data accessible to the public, though it reflects only Claude usage patterns, not the entire labor market.
