ByteDance has initiated the spin-off and independent financing of its AI pharmaceutical business. The new company, still controlled by ByteDance, will integrate the core AI pharma team, algorithm platform, and pipeline assets, with computing support from Volcano Engine. Founded in 2021, the 50-member team has achieved breakthroughs in molecular structure prediction, releasing open-source models Protenix and Seedfold, and developing the Anew Labs platform. This move aims to establish a flexible structure for long-cycle drug R&D, transitioning AI4S from research to industrial validation.
