Bloodborne Fans Celebrate 10th Anniversary with Yharnam Community Event||||
Bloodborne marks its 10th anniversary today, with fans uniting for another Return to Yharnam community event.
FromSoftware’s PlayStation 4 classic, released on March 24, 2015, solidified the Japanese studio’s reputation as a gaming powerhouse. It earned widespread critical and commercial success, sparking expectations for a sequel akin to the Dark Souls series.
Yet, a decade later, no sequel, remaster, or next-gen update has emerged to bring Bloodborne to 60fps. Fans have persistently urged Sony for more, but the company’s silence remains one of gaming’s most baffling mysteries.
Earlier this year, former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida shared his perspective. In an interview with Kinda Funny Games, he clarified that his comments were personal speculation, not insider knowledge or a reflection of Sony’s current plans.
“Bloodborne is the most requested title,” Yoshida noted. “People wonder why we haven’t released an update or remaster. It seems straightforward, doesn’t it? Sony’s known for remasters, so it’s frustrating for some.”
“My personal theory, after leaving first-party, is that Hidetaka Miyazaki, who cherishes Bloodborne, is deeply involved in other successful projects. He may not have time to revisit it himself and might prefer no one else does either. I believe PlayStation respects his stance. This is just my guess, not a revelation of any secrets.”
Miyazaki, FromSoftware’s visionary leader, has driven the studio to new heights with the Dark Souls series and the blockbuster Elden Ring, which is set to receive a multiplayer spin-off this year.

Miyazaki’s packed schedule is no secret. Since Bloodborne’s 2015 debut, he has directed Dark Souls 3, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice for Activision in 2019, and Elden Ring for Bandai Namco. His next project remains undisclosed.
In interviews, Miyazaki often sidesteps Bloodborne questions, noting that FromSoftware doesn’t own the IP. However, last February, he acknowledged the game could benefit from modern hardware.
Modders have stepped in to enhance the PS4 Bloodborne experience, but Sony has pushed back. In January, modder Lance McDonald received a takedown notice from Sony Interactive Entertainment, requesting he remove links to his 60fps patch, four years after its release.
A week later, Lilith Walther, creator of Nightmare Kart (formerly Bloodborne Kart) and the Bloodborne PSX demake, reported a copyright claim on an old YouTube video of the demake.
Recently, fans achieved a near-remaster experience on PC using PS4 emulators. Digital Foundry showcased a video highlighting “a breakthrough in PS4 emulation” with ShadPS4, enabling Bloodborne to run at 60fps from start to finish. Could this have prompted Sony’s response? IGN sought comment from Sony, but no reply has been received.
For now, Bloodborne fans are left to organize their own celebrations. The latest Return to Yharnam event, starting today on the game’s 10th anniversary, encourages players to create new characters, engage in random co-op and invasions, and leave in-game messages to mark their participation in this community effort.
This may be the only way fans can keep the spirit of Bloodborne alive.
